Mom Shoes kinda day

11 Comments 16 January 2013

If you’ve been here before you may already know I have two things in this blog. Four kids, and a sassy attitude.

And today is a day not unlike like any other.

In fact, I’m going to declare it a Mom Shoes Day.

Mom Shoes is a post I wrote sometime ago about how I feel about being a mom. I thought I was writing it for a poetry competition only to find out the competition was closed.

Little did I know what I was really writing was my own personal anthem as a mom. And even though I wrote it long ago with just one kid in mind. But it still holds true. Probably even more so now.

See, I make it my job to admire my kids’ curiosity.

Appreciate their lack of desire to give up.

Be inspired by their ambitions despite how small they may be in this great big world.

And try to be patient when just keeping up seems like too much.

So if you see me in the school parking trying to wrangle a bevy of children while one has a meltdown over the iphone ninjago app.

And feel inclined to give me a don’t get that kid close to mine or my kid would never look.

Just know this.

God gave me no more than I can handle. And I truly believe he chose these kids for me because he knows what I can do.

If it just so happens that he gave you an easier smoother road… Including time to shower apply makeup and eat breakfast before school drop off. Well then I guess that is all you were ready for.

But if you find yourself somewhere down the way and your road has suddenly darkened, narrowed, or become dangerously rocky. Say in those teenage years…

You may need some of us with our time worn mom shoes on. So you may want to save your looks for home.

Do you have a personal anthem?

Sometimes my anthem is kiss my ass but you know what, that’s not always polite to say. So, my anthem is usually just Keep On. I have to tell myself that so often that it might as well be an anthem, something to live by (because sometimes keeping on seems like the hardest thing in the world to accomplish.)

  9. Thanks Klaus, I really hope with the use of social media this heartbreaking story will continue to circulate, with the help of compassionate people, until this cruelty is stopped. It’s fantastic to see you’re one of those making a difference to these Rhino by bringing about awareness. I’m sharing your blog on my fb page
