Having a big family can get messy so when Clorox and the Sits girls suggested writing about a Clorox moment, well I could hardly pick just one.
From the mountain of dirt in my driveway left behind after the DIY landscaping project (aka the new playground). To experiments in face painting with the water colors. Life with four kids gets messy.
But, there was this one time when things got messy with more than just my own kids. An entire party of them in fact.
See it all started when I set out to find one birthday cake for two kids. Those two kids being my boy/girl twins who were set to turn two.
And amazingly enough I found it in my own grocery store. A beach scene with Mickey surfing in the ocean and Minnie sunbathing on the shore. But, I didn’t really like the decorating skills of the resident baker so I begged the manager to sell me the necessary figurines because my sister had begged me to let her make their birthday cake. Or in simpler terms I wanted a more skilled decorator to take a stab at it at a bakery my friend had recommended.
So, while they were in the back discussing wether or not they could perform such sales I took a picture with my cell phone of the cake in the catalog. And when they finally agreed to sell me the figurines I figured it was going to come out perfect.
Only when I went to pick it up, it was well… not exactly what I expected. Instead of subtle ocean blues and a sandy shore, it was this. A combination of the brightest of bright blues beside a beach the shade of a pumpkin. I couldn’t believe it!

And to top it all off the effects of serving this cake to a party full of little kids was well… semipermanent.
There were blue stains on the hands and faces of twenty plus kids, not to mention their clothes. Spots on the carpet, patio, and even inside the refrigerator. It was a Clorox moment not only for my family, but for the parents of every child in attendance.
I felt like I should have had been handing out full size bottles in lieu of the goody bags.

When my oldest was around 11 months old, we had a birthday party for me, my cake had this bright pink icing on it, which my son loved. Unfortunately it stained everything! Him included!
Yep. But fortunately it wears off skin after a few days. There were blue spots in my fridge for almost a year!
I remember the first time my oldest went to a party with a cake like this. She came home with blue lips and then her bowl movement. I almost called the doctor I was so freaked when I saw it. I was so clueless back then..:) Loved this entry!
